Ever wonder what it might take to assemble, disassemble or repair something? This might be your place.

Tresanti Adjustable Height Desk

In the summer of 2018, my wife bought me a Tresanti Adjustable Height Desk for my birthday. This was the first assembly project my son and I worked on together. We were both excited because I was wanting to stand at the desk and he wanted to claim my office chair as his own šŸ˜‰

The assembly was pretty straightforward. I was actually surprised at how easy it was. It’s been over 2 years now and the desk still works great! If I could change one thing about this desk it would be its size. I could probably use 4 to 6 more inches of real estate but for most people, I believe it will suffice.

Here’s a video of me and my son assembling the Tresanti Adjustable Heigh Desk…

The iMac Storage Drive Upgrade

Iā€™m one of those consumers who believes you can get at least 7 years out of an Apple MacBook Air or MacBook Pro before considering an upgrade. I also believe you can get 10 years out of any of Appleā€™s desktop computers before considering an upgrade. After all, this belief is backed by the way Apple handles their upgrade cycles for the iMac, MacMini, and Mac Pro lines.

When the iMac got its significant upgrade last month, I nearly pulled the trigger, but then I got to thinkingā€¦Did I really get the most out of my now 9-year-old iMac? After much thought and combing the web, I decided to upgrade the storage in this iMac. I pulled the ultra-slow 3.5ā€ 1TB HDD (Western Digital) from this iMac and replaced it with a 2.5ā€ 2TB SSD from Crucial.  It wasnā€™t exactly an easy task but a lot of the difficulty came from me being somewhat of a novice when it comes to opening up iMacs.

I have opened the following Apple products to either upgrade the drive or replace the battery: 30GB iPod battery replacement (3rd Gen), Late 2006 MacBook Pro (HDD Upgrade) and now the Mid-2011 27ā€ iMac (see details written above).

Anyway, this video was nearly 2 hours long before I cut it down to just under 40 minutes. There are time markings in case you want to skip around but my main warning is to watch out for the LCD data connector. It is easy to break if youā€™re not careful.
