I really didn’t want to believe it! Exactly one year after struggling to solve the misfire mystery with my 2015 Lincoln Navigator, I was presented with a new problem: A Transmission Shudder. I took the Navigator to multiple dealerships and spoke to several mechanics. I also read through multiple forums. Once again, things didn’t look good for my troubled vehicle.
It was looking more and more like I was going to have to get a new torque converter. I was livid. I still have $27,000 left to pay on this vehicle. The thought of adding another $4,000 to $5,000 on top of that made me sick!
Nothing Left To Lose
One of the service reps at the dealership told me to put Lucas in the transmission. Lucas has served me well in the past, but I wanted something new. I started doing some research and stumbled across Instant Shudder Fixx. Right away, I thought to myself, “this is snake oil for transmissions”, but I knew I had nothing to lose. My transmission was barely drivable.
I just needed access to a shop with a vehicle lift, so I could add the Instant Shudder Fixx to my transmission and I found one. They actually insisted on adding it themselves for $30 cash, but they had one condition: No receipt. Basically, they didn’t want to be held accountable if the transmission failed. I was fine with that. I really wasn’t interested in doing it myself anyway. Plus, I wanted to capture the task on video. You may ask why they allowed me to film, but didn’t want to give me a receipt? Well, their faces aren’t in the video nor is the shop signage.
The mechanics raised my Navigator up on the lift and 5 minutes later, we had added the small, red 2-ounce tube of ISF to the transmission. The shudder was gone as soon as I drove out of the garage. I couldn’t believe it!
Many of the reviews reported variable durations of time when it came to shudder-free driving. Anywhere from one day to a year and a half. One day passed and then another. After a week of not feeling a single shudder, I posted a YouTube video about it. As of 1/3/2021, I have driven 4,500 miles and posted 6 video reports covering this phenomenon.
I even received a message from LubeGard (the company behind Instant Shudder Fixx), thanking me for my honest review of their product, but thanks goes to them. Instant Shudder Fixx has allowed me to keep my vehicle on the road for the time being. I’m not sure how long this will last, but I promise to update this blog with any significant changes.
It could be the transmission side of a CV axle. Worn teeth can cause a shudder on acceleration. I’m considering that and/or the Shudder Fixx on my 2015 Hyundai Sonata 2.4l with 187,000 miles. Good luck.
