I was first introduced to MPOW in 2015 when I purchased their FreeGo Wireless Bluetooth 4.0 headset through Amazon. I thought it would be like the Plantronics Voyager Pro without the silly boom mic but it wasn’t very comfortable. Overall, I wasn’t impressed and returned it almost immediately.
3 years later, I bought the MPOW 059 over-the-ear headphones for one of my nephews. A year after that, I got another pair for my son’s birthday. He loves them and they’re still going strong today with zero issues!
Over the holidays, we ended up with several different earbuds. Two out of the four sets were from MPOW. The MBits S cost less than half the price ($19.99) of the X3 ANC ($49.99) which I found to be a bit puzzling. The X3 earbuds came with a larger charging case than the Mbits. It is very hard to find a company making a sleeker charging case than apple, in my opinion.
My son and I both tested these earbuds for 3 weeks and came to the conclusion that the MBits S are the better buy. Not just because of the lower price, but also because of the comfort level. We really couldn’t hear much of a difference with the sound. They both sound great! However, neither of us like the nipple-style, earplug-like earbuds. I find myself continuously trying to swallow or yawn to relieve the pressure in my ears.
Pros: Great Reception – We can walk further away from the phone with these earbuds than any other earbuds we’ve ever tried. Great Battery Life – They last around 6 to 7 hours on a single charge with constant use. Last but not least, they sound great.
Cons: Large Charging Cases – The Mbits S case is longer but thinner, while the X3 ANC is too large to carry in your pocket. On/Off Function – When pressing the earbuds back into our ears, my son and I kept accidentally turning them off, which was super annoying!
In conclusion: If you like the MPOW brand, and in-ear earbuds are your thing, go with the MBits S. We think they sound great! Just don’t double-tap the Right earbud when pressing it back into your ear or it will turn them off.
